Inverurie Cricket Club |
Mannofield beat Inverurie by 80 runs. On a sunny Saturday at Kellands Mannofield won the toss and elected to bat. Mozza and Trev opened the bowling for Inverurie and soon both bowlers had the openers back in the pavilion. Trev taking a smart return catch off Lawson and Mozza clean bowling Kenny Reid. Chris Burnett and B Surva went about repairing the Mannofield innings before Surva skied a catch to Martin off the bowling of GC for 38. Burnett retired once he reached his 40 and runs and wickets were a regular feature of the innings. All Inverurie bowlers picked up wickets with Martin claiming 3-18 including picking up Mannofield's skipper Johnston bowled and giving Dunderdale his first stumping of the season. 202 - 9 was a competitive score and one the Inverurie boys were confident of chasing. 30 mins later and 5 overs from Singh and Inverurie were 28-6. Hadden 4 and out, R. Lamb swung and missed out LBW, Martin caught behind after giving the 2 slips and 4 gullys interested for all 14 balls, Coutts leave alone bowled Hay bowled and Dunderdale bowled... Norval at the other end was witnessing the carnage and slowly building his own innings. However it was the introduction of Byrne into the bowling attack which attracted Norval's eyes...Trevor dispatching him for 6 sixes into the hospital carpark over 4 very expensive overs. Trevor was last man out for 86 when a well deserved hundred was there for the taking. Lots of positives to take out of the first run out of the summer and lots to work on for the team.
